In late 1608, Maria, twenty years old, took one of the mountain paths south through the Pyrenees, crossed from France into Spain and arrived at her home village. She was carrying an infection, an infection of the mind. Witchcraft. The disease spread from village to village through the mountains, terrifying everyone, threatening complete social collapse.
Only one thing to be done. Call the Inquisition…
A true story.
A shocking story.
But, ultimately, a story of courage and hope.
