It would be unusual and indeed tragic for a person to go through life without falling in love at some point or another. But what is love? A feeling? An idea? A journey? How is it different from desire? Do the two always go together? One thing is for sure. Love is an experience, perhaps the greatest one we’ve ever had or ever shall have. We will use Jon Stallworthy’s New Penguin Book of Love Poetry to explore this multi-faceted phenomenon or, if you prefer, many splendoured thing.
