Richard Bashford
Richard was born in Sandy. The headquarters of the RSPB, located in Sandy, may well have helped stimulate his interest in wildlife! At the age of ten his parents joined him to the Young Ornithologists Club (YOC) which further developed his interest. A career for the RSPB was inevitable and Richard undertook a range of contracts for the RSPB before securing a full time job working mainly with public facing activities building support for the RSPB such as Big Garden Birdwatch. Richard also worked for the British Trust for Ornithology organising the Breeding Bird Survey. In his own time, Richard leads wildlife tours for Naturetrek. Although birds were his main focus, butterflies, moths and mammals have also received attention!
Richard is married with two children.
