What can we learn about the reactions of people and governments from the diaries of the great plague of 1665? Can we recognise ourselves in the past? and how relevant is it today? What were there hopes and dreams, their fears and frustrations? How did the government respond and the people behave? How were the towns and the cities divided? What regulations made and enforced? and how were different sectors of society affected? We will look at similarities and contrasts with our current situation as well as historic circumstance. If you are familiar with ’Taking the Long View’ on Radio 4 this will be in that style.
We will assume as you are booking for a Zoom course you are happy for us to supply Twigs with your email details.
