This course follows the history of the latest war between Israel and the Palestinians. It focuses on the rise of Jewish and Arab nationalism since the end of the 19th century, how various Arab and non-Arab states have been involved, the main wars between the two sets of people and why a sustained peace has proved impossible. It is not straightforward but this course will help you make greater sense of the stories, events and characters behind the news which is never far from our lives.
