Many of Shakespeare’s plays turn on courtship and marriage, whether comedy (Much Ado…) , history (Henry VIII…), or tragedy (Romeo and Juliet), while the Bard’s own marriage was a curious one. Let us put all this in context of Elizabethan/Jacobean manners and morals.
