At the end of the 19th century, research in Physics and Chemistry was dominated by men, yet Marie Curie became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and the first (and only) woman to win a second Nobel Prize. Known throughout the scientific world as Madame Curie, she was the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris in 1906.
