Keynes was one of the most influential economists of the 20th century. He led a fascinating personal as well as professional life and his ideas have had a significant impact on modern economic policy. This five-week course looks at his extraordinary contribution to government policy, the rise and fall of the popularity of his ideas and the reasoning behind his critics, as well as his personal life. Keynes came to prominence in the Great Depression, after the 2008 financial crisis and again during the Covid pandemic.
