I am pleased to inform you of our first trip of the year! It is our highly anticipated Drawing the Italian Renaissance Exhibition at the Kings Gallery, Buckingham Palace. If you are booking on, please ensure you read to the end of this email to see what info I need from you and fill in the form by the 13th of February at the very latest.
The Trip Will Include
The Details
The Renaissance period saw a dramatic transformation in the way that artists worked, with a new-found appreciation for creativity pushing artistic boundaries. Drawing became central to this development, evolving from an essential tool of workshop practice to an exciting art form in its own right.
This exhibition brings together the widest range of drawings from this revolutionary artistic period ever to be shown in the UK. Exploring the diversity and accomplishment of drawing across Italy between 1450 and 1600, the exhibition will feature around 160 works by over 80 artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Titian alongside lesser-known artists, all drawn from the Royal Collection, which holds one of the world’s greatest collections of Italian Renaissance drawings.
To enhance our visit, we have an exclusive one-hour talk by a Royal Collection Trust expert, which will be held in the Gallery’s Redgrave Room before our exhibition entrance time. It will be set-up with lecture style seating and refreshments will be available for you to help yourselves before the talk.
The Itinerary
We will be leaving Bedford at around 9am and returning by roughly 6pm, final timings to be confirmed nearer to the day. Pick-up will be from the Centre and Tesco, Riverfield Drive.
We should arrive at Buckingham Palace by 11 45am. Our talk will commence at 1pm and our entrance to the exhibition will be at 2pm. Lunch is not included in this trip so please make your own lunch arrangements before our talk. There are plenty of eating establishments nearby but please do get in touch if you need any advice on where to eat.
We can aim to be back on the coach for 3.30pm and setting off for our journey back to Bedford by approximately 3.40pm.
Members will get priority booking until midday 17th of January 2025, after which the trip will be open to non-members with a closing date of midday 30th of January 2025.
The exhibition has been described by The Times as ‘An elegant, perfectly balanced show,’ The Telegraph as ‘Breathtaking’ and The Guardian as ‘Dazzling,’ so this trip will be popular! Book today to avoid disappointment!
