By the end of the course, students will complete detailed feature studies and a fully rendered portrait from life, grounded in a strong understanding of anatomy, proportion, and value.  Some drawing experience is required.

Students will need willow charcoal; charcoal pencil (medium);  white chalk pencil;  putty rubber; sharpener / sharpening block; A2 coloured paper (cream, grey, sand preferable) – at least 5 sheets. Extra:- sketchbook and pencils (B / HB). Students are welcome to complete their final project in a material other than charcoal, if they wish.
