The Details :
This major exhibition will feature more than 350 objects, including precious jewels, historic gemstones, iconic watches and clocks, that chart the evolution of Cartier’s legacy of art, design and craftsmanship since the turn of the 20th century.
Entrance to the exhibition will be staggered in groups from 12pm to 1 30pm. Outside of your exhibition time, you will be able to explore the museum at your leisure, which has many free displays, collections, exhibitions and even talks. On the day of our visit there will be a National Art Library and Archive Talk commencing at 11 30am and 2pm. The sessions will run for 15 to 20 mins and there is no need to book but simply arrive at the main entrance to the NAL on the first floor just before the session begins. The talk will introduce the history and purpose of the library and include a talk about an item from their collections. There will be ample opportunity to get up close to the item and ask questions, as well as enjoy the books, archives, manuscripts etc.
Lunch will be available to purchase from the main café, which is the World’s first museum café, designed by James Gamble, William Morris and Edward Poynter and is opulently decorated to reflect the eclectic tastes of the Victorian era. They serve a range of hot and cold meals, cakes and pastries, hot and cold drinks, teas and coffee. There is also a Garden Café which is a hidden oasis in the centre of the building where you can choose from a selection of tempting cakes, salads and sandwiches, speciality teas and coffees, as well as cold beverages.
