Birds and birdwatching – the background story

As an increasingly popular pastime, there is a wealth of available information about birds and birdwatching. This course explores the background to our birds and birdwatching, using real life examples and experience – some expected, some unexpected, with topics taking us through the birdwatching year, the birds of different habitats, identification tips from the plumage to behaviour, exploring bird song, the “gear” from books to binoculars, making your birdwatching count – volunteering and surveys.
