4 Week Acting Workshop

No previous acting experience necessary.

 

This 4-week workshop will give you an insight into how actors breakdown scripts to find well rounded characters. This will be a chance for you to experience building a character from scratch. These lessons will let you participate in the fun attached to the craft.

 

Week 1

 

Warm up.

You will each pick a short 1-page monologue (provided from my library). These will be worked on within the session with the chance to practice re-direction and working on impulse.

After this we will do some character and scene study before we perform the monologues again.

 

Homework: Character study, ready to show a more in-depth character by next week’s class

 

Week 2

 

Warm up.

We will show where the monologues have now got to with a week of digestion.

We will work through the character studies together with a Q&A session and then we will perform the scenes again with re-direction.

 

After this, 1- or 2-page duologue scenes will be handed out (provided from my library), You will be paired up and have some time to prep these scenes in class before performing. These workings will be filmed for your own development. (Recordings will only be shared with the individuals in the recording).

 

Homework: Character study, ready to show a more in-depth character by next week’s class

 

Week 3

 

Warm up.

You will be continuing the duologue with the same partner from week 2. You will have some time with your partner to discuss, block and run your scene as well as try out any ideas you may have.

You will then perform the scenes, which will be filmed, re-directed, then filmed again. (Recordings will only be shared with the individuals in the recording).

 

We will play some unblocking games through improv to loosen you up and help you to respond to your impulses. We will take a deeper dive into the characters and unearth some truths.

 

Week 4

 

Warm up.

You will work with your partner and make any changes to your blocking and scene choices and perform the scenes again to be filmed and re-directed.

(Recordings will only be shared with the individuals in the recording).

We will work through the character studies together with a Q&A session and then we will perform the scenes again with re-direction.

 

*Filming is for your development, however, anyone not wanting to be filmed can take part without being recorded.
