Painting and Music: David Lewry

"This course will look at how various artists have incorporated another liberal art, music, into their work. From Vermeer’s Music Lesson to Picasso’s Guitarists you will be amazed at how often musicians and their instruments feature in painting. There have also been attempts to literally 'paint music’ and there will be a practical opportunity for students to explore their own responses to musical sounds through art. This new course will get you looking at some well-known paintings in a completely new light. David is a painter, and was for many years a professional musician, so this course will combine two of his passions."
