History of Photography - Victorian Era: Hemant Jariwala

"It was Paul Delaroche who said, “From today, painting is dead!”, after viewing examples of the Daguerreotype images in 1839. In this part of the course we shall cover: invention or ‘dawn’ of photography, different equipment and processes, through to its acceptance as a legitimate artist media. A number of influential Victorian photographers and their work will be introduced, including; Roger Fenton, Julia Margaret Cameron, Henry Peach Robinson, Frank Meadow Sutcliffe, Peter Henry Emerson and others."
